New Artist Residency at Silver Art Projects, New York

Presented by Silverstein Properties, Silver Art Projects will provide ongoing sponsored studio space, artist mentorship, and a platform for artists to create and shape the cultural growth of Lower Manhattan. Every September, the 50th floor of 3 World Trade Center will host 30 artists to 44,000 square feet of sponsored studio space for up to eight months.

Silver Art Projects is the new corporate social responsibility initiative introduced by Silverstein Properties — the real estate development firm that continues to lead the revival of Lower Manhattan through the rebuilding of the World Trade Center.

“Silver Art Projects, co-founded by Cory Silverstein and Joshua Pulman, will host 30 artists every September at its new purpose-built studio spaces with panoramic views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and New Jersey on the 50th floor of 3 World Trade Center. Artists will receive access to 44,000 square feet of space for up to eight months and will be selected by a rotating jury of fellow artists, curators, and neighborhood leaders,” the press release says.

“Art has always played a big role in my personal and professional life,” said Larry Silverstein, Chairman of Silverstein Properties. “I’m thrilled to support artists working in a variety of disciplines in studio space at 3 World Trade Center, and I’m very excited to see what they will accomplish with Cory and Joshua’s support.”

“As a real estate development company with properties primarily in Manhattan, we see how the artistic community is being pushed further into the boroughs to find affordable studio space,” explains Cory Silverstein.

“Silver Art Projects will foster a continual dialogue around Contemporary art in the financial district,” adds Joshua Pulman. “It’s a chance to bring talented artists into this corporate hub and engage these two worlds.”

The jurors for 2019 include Isolde Brielmaier, Executive Director and Curator of Arts, Culture & Community at Westfield World Trade Center; Evan Moffitt, Associate Editor of Frieze magazine; and Nicola Vassell, Founder of Concept NV and Curatorial Director of the Dean Collection.

Silver Art Projects encourages all artists interested in working in New York City to apply for sponsored studio space. The application is open until July 31, 2019.
