Uber Expands Offices to Over 500,000 Square Feet at World Trade Center
Uber Technologies Inc. is expanding its offices in Manhattan's Financial District as the company looks to accommodate a surge of new local employees.
The ride-hailing giant (NYSE: UBER) signed an expansion lease to occupy a 500,000-square-foot office block across 11 floors at 3 World Trade Center, reported Bloomberg.
Uber signed a lease there for 300,000 square feet in 2019, adding 44,000 square feet a year ago. Since first consolidating its New York City operations at 3 WTC, Uber has grown its workforce from 800 to more than 2,000.
The surge in employees comes after Uber mandated work-from-office policies in June 2025, scaling back remote-work opportunities and asking workers within 50 miles of an office to start coming in at least three days a week.
To make space for them, Uber has been renting Industrious coworking space in the building. The company had started to run out of desks and began packing employees closer together in office spaces, Bloomberg reported.
Excluding Uber's 10 million drivers, the company and its subsidiaries have 34,000 employees across the globe. The growth of Uber's New York City offices comes after CEO Dara Khosrowshahi moved to the city in 2024.
The asking price of the transaction was not reported. At the World Trade Center, the average asking price for offices is $95.14 per square foot, according to Avison Young.
