About 120 Wall Street

Commanding dramatic, unobstructed views of the East River and the South Street Seaport, the 120 Wall Street office tower, built in 1929, occupies an entire block on the world's most famous financial boulevard. To maintain an appearance consistent with the building's renowned location, Silverstein Properties restored 120 Wall Street's façade, entrance and distinctive Art Deco lobby, redefining the building's identity and appeal. Each space has spectacular water views.

In cooperation with the City's Economic Development Corporation, Silverstein Properties obtained the designation of 120 Wall Street as New York City's first and only Association Center. The designation creates special real estate tax advantages enabling qualified not-for-profit tenants to benefit from cost-effective office space, thereby helping the City to encourage growth of this vital economic sector.

120 Wall Street has attracted more than 30 of the finest national not-for-profit organizations, including the world headquarter location of the National Urban League, The United Way of America, and The United Negro College Fund.

Architectural Distinction

120 Wall Street embodies a more utilitarian approach to high-rise architecture than the Art Deco extravaganzas of the central financial district with its simple pyramid like massing. The marble, limestone and white brick of 120 Wall Street is left unadorned, with the gold metallic grille directly above the main entrance as the one dramatic exception to this simple decorative program.

This architectural restraint can in part be ascribed to 120 Wall Street's location at the eastern fringe of the financial district. Wall Street, east of Pearl Street, was heavily populated with coffee, tea, and sugar importers which were situated between the ships and docks to the east and the financiers to the west. 120 Wall Street's original anchor tenant was the American Sugar Refining Company.
