NATIONALLY RANKED LAW FIRM COZEN O’CONNOR SIGNS 77,000-SQUARE-FOOT LEASE AT 3 WORLD TRADE CENTER

Cozen O’Connor will occupy the entire 55th floor, and a portion of the 56th floor when the firm relocates from its current Midtown and Downtown locations

NEW YORK, December 5 2019 - Silverstein Properties, one of New York City’s leading real estate development and management companies, today announced that Cozen O’Connor, one of America’s largest law firms, has signed a 15-year, 77,000 square-foot lease at 3 World Trade Center in Downtown Manhattan.

Currently located in two Manhattan offices, 45 Broadway and 277 Park Avenue, Cozen O’Connor is slated to occupy 3 World Trade Center’s entire 55th floor, and a portion of the 56th floor, when it moves in towards the end of 2020. Cozen O’Connor’s move showcases the steady influx of companies seeking office space within the World Trade Center campus.

“It’s so exciting to see a law firm of Cozen O’Connor’s national caliber move to the World Trade Center,” said Larry A. Silverstein, Chairman, Silverstein Properties.  “3 World Trade Center is one of the most beautiful, accessible and sustainable buildings in New York, and has become a major draw for the city’s top talent.”

“We are delighted to have secured Class A space in one of New York City’s newest trophy buildings and one which is LEED Gold certified,” said Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cozen O’Connor Michael J. Heller. “The World Trade Center campus offers amenities and security features our attorneys, employees and clients are looking for, and Silverstein Properties has transformed downtown Manhattan with this project.”

“Bringing all of our New York attorneys into one office with space to continue to grow our presence was the priority for us in looking for new space in Manhattan,” said Vincent R. McGuinness, Managing Partner of Cozen O’Connor. “3WTC gave us that. While we will maintain our own conference space in midtown with guest offices and staffed by Cozen O’Connor employees, we are very much looking forward to moving all of our New York City lawyers and personnel into this new space.”

Founded in 1970 and ranked among the top 100 law firms in the country, Cozen O’Connor has more than 750 attorneys in 27 cities across two continents. Cozen O’Connor is a full-service firm with nationally recognized practices in litigation, business law, and government relations.

3 World Trade Center, New York City’s fifth-tallest tower and newest office building to open in the World Trade Center campus, is now over 75% leased. Anchored by media tenant GroupM, Cozen O’Connor will join tenants Kelley Drye & Warren, IEX, Diageo, Casper, Harper + Scott and Better.com. 3 World Trade Center provides tenants with the flexibility to continue to expand and thrive in the bustling hub of Downtown Manhattan.

Jeremy Moss, Executive Vice President of Silverstein Properties, and Camille McGratty, Vice President of Leasing at Silverstein Properties, led negotiations on behalf of the landlord, alongside a CBRE team consisting of Mary Ann Tighe, Ken Meyerson, Adam Foster, Evan Haskell, Steve Eynon, David Caperna, and Rob Hill. Arthur J. Mirante, II, Michael Gottlieb, and Jennifer Ogden of Avison Young represented Cozen O’Connor.

Jeremy Moss said:  “Cozen O’Connor is among a rapidly growing group of the largest law firms in the world that are moving Downtown from Midtown Manhattan.  The reasons are simple:  3 WTC gives firms well-priced access to new construction, direct in-building access to the city’s best transit, and proximity to their clients.”
